Urge Schools to Re-evaluate Support for UNICEF Due to Conflict of Interest

The Issue

We have discovered a potentially concerning connection between UNICEF and BlackRock Investment. The Executive Director of UNICEF is married to the Chairman of BlackRock Investment, a company with a notable history of significant investments in ammunition supporting the Settler State Colony of Israel in its controversial policies towards Palestinians.

BlackRock has investments in nine separate holdings, with each holding amounting to approximately 919.49 million US dollars, in companies associated with military contractors, nuclear weapons, and other controversial weapons systems.

This relationship raises serious questions about the allocation of funds donated to UNICEF, and whether they are being used in accordance with the charity's mission.

We believe it is crucial for our schools to reassess their support for this organization until these concerns are adequately addressed. It is our responsibility as donors and advocates for children's rights worldwide to ensure that our contributions are used ethically and effectively. Therefore, we urge all schools that currently support UNICEF as a charity partner to re-evaluate this decision in light of these potential conflicts of interest.

As advocates for peace, tolerance, and respect for all individuals, we believe that it is important for our schools to partner with organizations that share these values. Supporting a charity with indirect connections to significant investments in ammunition supporting Israel appears to be inconsistent with these principles.

We urge our schools to conduct a thorough review of their charitable partnerships, considering the ethical implications of such relationships. We call for transparency and accountability in the decision-making process, ensuring that our schools align with organizations that uphold the values we cherish.

Please join us in voicing our concerns and advocating for a change that reflects our commitment to peace, justice, and inclusivity.

Please sign this petition if you believe in transparency, accountability, and ethical use of charitable donations.
