Urge Santa Clara & Alameda County Congressional Representatives to Oppose the Travel Ban

The Issue

The Trump administration is considering a new travel ban affecting citizens from up to 43 countries. The proposed measures categorize countries into three groups: full visa suspension, partial visa suspension, and a probationary period. Ten countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Cuba, and North Korea, could face complete visa bans. Five countries—Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, and South Sudan—might experience partial suspensions affecting specific visa types. Twenty-six countries, including Belarus, Pakistan, and Turkmenistan, would have 60 days to improve security measures or risk restrictions. The proposal aims to enhance national security through stricter vetting processes.

This action directly affects our local community, many of whom are Muslim immigrants. They are our friends, neighbors, and coworkers, and they are now living under a cloud of fear and uncertainty.

We are privileged to live in the Bay Area, a diverse and vibrant beacon positioned as an exemplar of what America truly stands for: a melting pot of cultures and faiths. The "Muslim" Travel Ban, however, stands in stark opposition to these values.

The ban, executive order, is yet to come back which is why we have to act FAST the white house has yet to ratify it so we need to act fast to put as much pressure as we can NOW...The order targets many predominantly Muslim countries. This leads to an estimated 135 million people being banned from entering the U.S., as per statistics from the Department of Homeland Security. Furthermore, according to the Cato Institute, the chances of an American being killed in a terrorist attack committed by a foreigner on U.S soil is in about 1 in 3.6 million per year, clearly indicating that this ban is baseless and rooted in fear-mongering.

We must rally our Bay Area congressional representatives to stand on the right side of history and human rights by vehemently opposing Trump's Muslim Travel Ban. A united voice from their electorate can and must shift this ill-conceived policy.

Your signature matters. Let our representatives hear our collective disapproval and command them to take action against this Islamophobic policy. Sign this petition today.
