The Issue

Last week, I waited 10 minutes just to switch classes. Total chaos.

I'm an 11th grader at Eastlake High in Sammamish. I want real electives. Not elbow fights in packed hallways.

Eastlake and Skyline High Schools sit at 25% over capacity. Classrooms cram 35 kids each. Programs get slashed. Portables everywhere.

This hits under-18s hardest. We need safe spaces. Better grades. Actual futures.

A bond failed in February 2025. New school delayed to 2026. Partial funding only. State budget cuts confirmed at January town hall. We're stuck.

Overcrowding will worsen. Council claims declining enrollment. Wrong. Look at the numbers:

Eastlake High: 2,367+ students
Skyline High: 2,170+ students
Inglewood Middle: 1,211+ students
Pine Lake Middle: 900+ students
All at or over capacity.

We demand action now. Sammamish City Council must pass a resolution. Call on Washington State Legislature. We urgently need Sammamish City Council to pass a resolution calling on the Washington State Legislature to allocate $150-200 million in targeted funding for K-12 relief in schools in this area.

This unlocks relief for Issaquah School District and LWSD: smaller classes, more bus routes, wider electives.

The chaos is unsafe. It kills focus. It blocks potential. Every student deserves a real learning environment.

We're busy teens. But we can speak up. Sign this petition. Show strength in numbers. Demand investment in our futures. Make Sammamish schools support success and safety.
