Urge RTD to Establish a Subway or Rapid Transit Network in Denver

The Issue

As someone who frequently utilizes public transportation, I have seen firsthand the potential benefits of an efficient and comprehensive transit system. Although I am not a resident of Denver, Colorado, my experiences with various transit systems across the country have led me to believe that the Regional Transportation District (RTD) could significantly improve mobility within the city by establishing a subway or rapid transit network.

Currently, those riding to Union Station on the RTD Commuter Rail may find it challenging to reach their final destinations within Denver due to limited connectivity. While light rail does exist in Denver, its effectiveness compared to other systems nationwide is questionable.

Denver is one of the fastest-growing cities in America with a population increase of over 20% since 2010 (U.S Census Bureau). With this growth comes increased traffic congestion and longer commute times for residents and visitors alike. A subway network consisting of three or four lines could greatly alleviate these issues by providing more direct routes throughout the city.

A well-planned rapid transit system can also contribute positively towards environmental sustainability by reducing reliance on private vehicles and consequently lowering carbon emissions.

Therefore, we, the undersigned, urge RTD to consider our plea for improved public transportation infrastructure in Denver through the establishment of a subway or rapid transit network. This will not only enhance mobility within this vibrant city but also contribute towards sustainable urban development. Please sign this petition if you share our vision for better public transportation in Denver.
