The Issue

River park and Parkside neighborhoods are bustling with families who have children and dogs, and the absence of a dedicated area for our children, teenagers, and four-legged friends is increasingly felt. While the field project at the high school has been a great initiative, providing the community with a fantastic new sports field, it has unfortunately left us without a fenced area for dogs.

The much-discussed solar initiative at Parkside has taken shape as part of the planned park, yet it lacks the funding or the inclusion of a dog park. In past discussions, a dog park near the high school was considered, but its current status remains uncertain. It is imperative that we prioritize the establishment of a park to enhance the quality of life on the north side of town.

It's time for Ridgway to act on its plan to budget for this much-needed park development. By allocating funds, either with or without the solar plan inclusion, the town can create a multi-use space that caters to all its residents, including our children and pets.

We call upon the Ridgway town council to include the budget for the Parkside park project in the upcoming fiscal plan, with a dedicated areas for children, teenagers, and the addition of a dog park.  Let’s make this vital addition a reality for families who call Ridgway home.

Please join us in urging our local government to prioritize this essential community development plan by signing this petition. Together, we can create a more inclusive and vibrant environment for everyone in Ridgway.
