Urge PwC to Recognize Juneteenth as a Federal Holiday

The Issue

As an African American, the commemoration of Juneteenth holds profound significance in acknowledging the years of struggle my ancestors endured. Despite the fact that the day has received recognition as a Federal Holiday by the U.S. Government, it is disheartening to know that our own organization, PwC, hasn't followed suit by recognizing June 19th as an official holiday and closing the office for the day. This is the day that represents the independence of enslaved people, and thus should be revered on a similar note as the July 4th Independence Day.

Juneteenth is not just an African American holiday — it is a part of American history. Its importance increases manifold in our culturally diverse Minneapolis community. Historically, large corporations' recognition of such days has played a crucial role in shaping public opinion and has contributed positively towards the broader agenda of inclusivity and respect for diversity. We urge PwC to take this positive step. By acknowledging Juneteenth as a Federal holiday, we not only honor the history and contributions of African Americans but also strengthen our united stand against racial prejudice.

With this petition, we implore PwC to recognize and respect this pivotal moment in American history, giving Juneteenth the same level of recognition other holidays receive. Please sign the petition and support our push for PwC to observe Juneteenth as a Federal holiday.
