Our family, like many others, relies heavily on Power Homeschool Acellus due to our fixed, single income. We have two children, each with a 504 plan, who benefit greatly from learning at their own pace through this program. Over the past three years, this platform has played an essential role in their educational progress. It is unthinkable for us to start over with a new program, especially when Acellus has proven so effective for our children and others we know.

Power Homeschool Acellus has recently made a drastic increase in their fees. The original cost was $25 per student and stayed that way for existing families and new students who enrolled before a deadline in August 2024. For some that didn't see their emails, they were blindsided when cost rose to $31.25 and felt that was out of nowhere. The decision to increase from their beginning rate of $25 per student, surpassing the $31.25, ended up going straight into a staggering $99 per student out of nowhere, which is a whopping 296% increase! It threatens to disrupt thousands of families nationwide who choose homeschooling as a more affordable and tailored educational option. In particular, families with multiple children find the new costs prohibitive. For many, including us, homeschooling is a necessity, not a luxury—the decision often made with the fact that most homeschool families are operating on a single income in mind.

This exponential cost increase has severe implications, potentially forcing families to discontinue their children's education through this platform. The pandemic and economic uncertainties have already stretched many families thin. Power Homeschool must recognize this harsh reality and reconsider their pricing strategy to prevent such a negative impact.

We urge Power Homeschool to engage in constructive dialogue with their user base and explore alternative pricing structures that maintain the platform's affordability. Potential solutions should first and foremost have the cost of $99 per student drop down to a reasonable cost for the program offered. It could include implementing a tiered pricing system, offering family packages, or providing better discounts for those in financial need. By doing so, Power Homeschool can continue to support the educational journeys of all families who have come to rely on it.
