The Issue

In a heartfelt plea on Instagram, Madonna has asked Pope Leo XIV to go to Gaza “before it’s too late.” Her words are not about politics, blame, or sides—they’re about the children. Innocent boys and girls who are starving, displaced, and living in fear as the war between Israel and Hamas rages on.

According to UNICEF, over 18,000 children have been killed in Gaza since October 2023—an average of 28 every single day. Many others face a different, slower fate: death from hunger. The World Health Organization has called this a “man-made mass starvation.” At least 222 people, including more than 100 children, have already died from malnutrition.

Pope Leo has spoken out before, calling the suffering in Gaza “increasingly worrying and painful” and urging for humanitarian aid to be allowed in. But now, the time for words may have passed. A personal visit could shine a global spotlight on the urgency of opening the humanitarian gates. As Madonna reminded him, “You are the only one of us who cannot be denied entry.”

This petition is not about taking a political side. It is about using a unique moral voice to try to save children from starvation. It is about showing that compassion and conscience can succeed where politics have failed.

Pope Leo’s predecessors have visited conflict zones before, offering not only comfort but also the kind of moral pressure that can move governments to act. In Gaza, such a gesture could be lifesaving.

We call on Pope Leo XIV to take this urgent step: travel to Gaza, meet with the families, see the reality firsthand, and call upon all leaders to allow unrestricted humanitarian aid. The world’s most vulnerable children cannot wait another day.

Sign this petition to urge Pope Leo XIV to bring his light to Gaza—because every child deserves a chance to live, no matter where they are born.
