As a passionate and concerned member of the Division of Clark, the increasing youth crime rates and gang incidents have made me fear for the safety of my family and neighbours. Areas like our local shopping centers in Glenorchy, which we should associate with peaceful family outings, have become sources of anxiety. 

Our request is simple yet of utmost significance: We call upon the politicians in the Clark division to institute effective measures to mitigate youth crime and provide a safer environment for all residents. We entrust our votes to those who prioritize our welfare and safety over any other agenda. We don’t want a multiple page PDF on policy we want real action on youth gang crime now! Adult crime, adult time! 

Our police force, need support in handling this issue. We demand stricter consequences for these crimes to ensure that offenders do not continuously pose a threat to community safety. As it stands, the recurrence of crime signals the fact that the current consequences do not deter the youth, and thus prompt changes are required.

In Australia, approximately 14% of all offenders, aged 10-19, were involved in acts of violence. (Source: Australian Institute of Criminology, 2018-2019 data). This portrays the gravity of youth crime, and we cannot sit idly by as these numbers rise.

Politicians in the Division of Clark, you want our votes next week? You need to show us now what you are going to do to wipe this issue from our community swiftly and effectively because as a community, we have had enough!!
