The Issue

We, the undersigned, call on Paramount to permanently shelve Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 2 and pursue a tax write-off, rather than release content audiences do not want.

The Batgirl Precendent

When Warner Bros. Discovery canceled the nearly completed film Batgirl, it demonstrated that a major studio can choose to shelve a finished project for financial reasons rather than release it. Following the WarnerMedia–Discovery merger, the company opted to classify the film as a loss and take a tax write-off, which required permanently burying it and never distributing it in any form.

This decision established a clear precedent: studios can abandon completed content when they believe shelving it provides greater financial or strategic value than releasing it.

Why Paramount Should Batgirl Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

Following Paramount's recent mergers and acquisitions, now is the ideal time for the company to make a similar move.

Releasing Star Trek: Starfleet Academy risks doing permanent harm to the franchise. Many potential viewers have already abandoned the franchise due to the toxic impact of the first season, releasing it will drive away more. Meanwhile, Batgirling Starfleet Academy sends a signal to fans that you've heard them and are ready to welcome them back.
