Season one of "Dexter: Original Sin" successfully captured the hearts of fans with its thrilling plot, twisted humor, and the nostalgia it brought for the original series. It is a show that fans didn't know they needed but it ultimately defied expectations thanks to the talented cast and clever writing. It accomplished what every prequel struggles to do effectively: it faithfully paid homage to the original while expanding the universe in unexpected and exciting ways. The daunting task of winning over such a passionate fan base is behind them, making this the worst time imaginable to abandon the series. Doing so now would damage Paramount's brand and squander the hard-earned support for the series before ever seeing just how much success there is go be gained.

A second season would not only paint a clearer picture of the show's long-term potential, it would continue to attract new fans (especially on the coat tails of the "Dexter: Resurrection"), contributing positively to Paramount's brand and subscriber base. With successful viewership ratings and a passionate fan base demanding more, renewing "Dexter: Original Sin" would provide a platform to further explore the narrative possibilities that have been set up in the first season. At the same time, it would potentially extend the life and viability of the franchise for years to come; effectively securing "Dexter" as one of Paramount's flagship franchises for the foreseeable future.

Considering that fans (and the talent involved) were already under the impression that "Dexter: Original Sin" was all-but-guaranteed at least one more season when it was cancelled, now is the time for Paramount to take decisive action. By officially renewing "Dexter: Original Sin" for a second season, they can capitalize on its current popularity and ensure that this dynamic series remains a staple in modern thriller television (even after "Dexter: Resurrection" has run it's course). Abandoning the show now would be a waste of potential considering that the creatives involved successfully won over fans and paved the way for even more success and growth going forward.
