I am a resident of Pandan, Antique, Philippines, and it deeply saddens me to witness the plight of stray dogs and cats in our community. These animals are forced to live on the streets without any owner or home. When natural disasters strike our municipality, they are left in danger with nowhere safe to stay.

Our municipality needs an animal shelter and rescue centers where these abandoned animals can find refuge. Not only would this provide them with a safe space during calamities but it will also give them a chance at finding loving homes.

According to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), there are approximately 12 million stray dogs in the Philippines alone. This number does not even include stray cats which further amplifies the urgency of this issue.

By establishing animal shelters and rescue centers in Pandan, we can significantly reduce these numbers locally while ensuring that these creatures have access to food, medical care, love, and safety they deserve.
