After the recent tragic event that took place at the 2021 Astroworld Music Festival in Houston, Texas where at least 8 festival goers passed and hundreds were injured due to a phenomenon known as "crowd crush", many Outside Lands festival goers harked back to their experience going through the south tunnel in San Francisco's Golden Gate park, a major chokehold in the festival's exiting experience.

To anyone that has gone through it, they'll tell you how claustrophobic the experience is, with the crowd pushing your body forward and you losing all sense of control. All it takes to set off a catastrophic crowd crush such as the one seen at the Astroworld Festival is a person tripping or passing out or an event that triggers mass panic.

Outside Lands Festival organizers and the city of San Francisco MUST come up with a better exit strategy for future iterations of the event in order to prevent an unnecessary tragedy.
