Urge OC Transpo to maintain consistent Line 4 service

Urge OC Transpo to maintain consistent Line 4 service
The Issue
OC Transpo has been suspending Line 4 service a lot more often lately and this is not good. This change has directly impacted my ability to travel efficiently, especially when heading to the airport. This suspension forces travelers, including myself, to rely on overcrowded buses at South Keys station, which only run every 30 minutes. The inconvenience and stress caused by these interruptions in service are significant, and something needs to be done to address them.
Line 4 is a crucial link in our community's public transportation network in Ottawa, especially for airport travelers and daily commuters. The abrupt and frequent suspensions create unnecessary hardships for all those who rely on this service, particularly at peak travel times. Reliable public transit is vital not only for personal mobility but also for supporting the city's economic activity.
To mitigate these issues, OC Transpo should consider feasible solutions such as running Line 4 more frequently or addressing the underlying causes behind the service suspensions. Moreover, extending Line 4 to start at Bayview station, with South Keys and Carleton as intermediate stops, could help increase ridership and offer a more dependable and comprehensive service.
We call on OC Transpo to prioritize the operational stability of Line 4 to ensure that citizens continue to have access to reliable and efficient transportation options. By doing so, OC Transpo will enhance passenger experience, reduce congestion on alternate routes, and maintain confidence in the public transit system.
Once I needed to catch a Line 4 train at South Keys but then they started announcing that the train was not running and told me to get onto a 105 bus little did I know I had to Wait 30 minutes for one that just so happened to be overcrowded until we got to Uplands. If they keep suspending Line 4 service especially without explanation, ridership will be stifled And I feel like the Line 4 has become mostly an afterthought after the introduction of the 105 bus route in September 2025. To give the 105 some credit, it did create a more direct option to get to the airport from the east end however, the way it was implemented stifled ridership on Line 4 coming from the east end which is not really a good thing for Line 4 because it led to a ridership decrease from that part of the city so what they could’ve done was just have the route 105 travel between South Keys and St. Laurent stations so instead of taking riders from line 4, it can better feed riders to the line while maintaining a trip that requires fewer transfers than the line 1 to line 2 to line 4 trip to the airport from the East End and if Line 4 service is taken down to an issue with the trains they can implement an R4 shuttle service that runs between South Keys and the airport with the same frequency so people don’t have to wait for overcrowded 105 buses if Line 4 has to be shut down due to a problem with the train or the track.
Please sign this petition to urge OC Transpo to take immediate action and prevent further suspensions of Line 4 services. Together, we can work towards a better and more efficient transit system for Ottawa.
