I'm a long-time supporter of NPR, making yearly donations because I believe in their listener-supported model. However, my trust was deeply shaken when I discovered that NPR uses 17 trackers in their Android app. This is contrary to what NPR stands for, as it compromises the privacy of its app users and amounts to selling their personal information to data brokers for additional funding.

According to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, mobile trackers can collect comprehensive data profiles, including location, app usage, and demographic information. In an age where privacy invasion is becoming increasingly concerning, it is deplorable to see a respected institution like NPR resort to such measures.

For an organization that is supposed to stand for the betterment of society, the use of this trend in their apps is extremely troubling. As a dedicated listener and supporter, I, along with others who share my concern, demand that NPR take immediate action to remove the privacy-invasive trackers from its mobile apps and prioritize the rights of its listeners.
