As fans of handball, We are deeply frustrated by the limited exposure this great sport gets in mainstream media. Handball is a sport that captivates tens of millions globally, yet it only shines under the spotlight in the U.S. during the Olympics, once every four years. I firmly believe that broadcasting handball year-round on NBC's Peacock streaming platform will radically increase interest in the sport nationwide.

Despite its thrilling nature, handball receives unjustifiably scarce coverage in the U.S. The sport has many element that appeal to Amercians and has a stellar following mainly in Europe, with more than 27 million registered handball players ("World Handball – the number of players", EHF). This figure does not even encompass the millions of fans who passionately follow the game off the court.  And, the content to broadcast exists, fully produced with English commentary.  Pro matches are played on a weekly basis and Team USA will take the floor next January in the World Championships in Norway.

Broadcasting handball year-round not only allows the sport to gain the visibility it deserves but also introduces a thrilling and engaging new sport to American audiences. More people would be able to discover and watch the game, stimulating further growth and development of the sport in the U.S.

Just as football, basketball, and baseball fans are satiated with year-round coverage of their favorite sports, we handball devotees plead for NBC Sports to provide the same opportunity to our beloved sport.  And, continuing to broacast handball on Peacock might even encourage us to keep our subscription after the Olympics are over.
