The Issue

Cllr Jawad Amin, alongside Crumpsall councillors Nasrin Ali and Fiaz Riasat, and our MP Graham Stringer, are calling on NatWest to reconsider its decision to close the Crumpsall (known as Cheetham Hill) branch.

It has recently been announced that the Crumpsall NatWest branch will close in May 2026. This is deeply concerning, as local banking services remain essential and the closure will have a significant impact on residents across Crumpsall and Cheetham Hill.

Crumpsall is a busy and growing community. Closing this branch would leave residents, families and small business owners with far fewer accessible banking options. Older residents and vulnerable individuals who rely on face-to-face services - and who may struggle with online banking - will be particularly affected. Many customers will be forced to travel further across Manchester for basic banking, placing additional strain on local Post Office services.

We are therefore asking NatWest to pause and reconsider this decision. We urge the bank to engage meaningfully with the community and explore alternative solutions, such as reduced operating hours or adapted services, so the branch can remain open.

Maintaining the Crumpsall branch would demonstrate NatWest’s commitment to its customers and to the communities it serves.

We encourage all local residents, business owners, and supporters to sign and show how important this branch is to our area. By adding your voice, we can safeguard this essential service and keep NatWest at the heart of our Crumpsall community.

This petition has been arranged by Cllr Jawad Amin in support of all residents across Crumpsall & Cheetham.
