Urge Movie Theaters to Screen the Oscar-Winning Documentary "No Other Land"

The Issue

Oscar-Winning Documentary "No Other Land" is the most prescient film released last year, while also being the most restircted and censored. As a Jewish American profoundly affected by this Palestinian-Israeli collaborative documentary, I urge theaters and distributors to consider the significance of this piece beyond politics. The documentary records the life of Basel Adra, a young Palestinian activist residing in Masafer Yatta in the West Bank and the disruption his community is subjugated to. Through his unlikely friendship with Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham, the film explores the differences one's nationality makes in determining living conditions and rights living mere miles away from each other.

While the conflict in the region is at it's most violent, this film puts forward a raw, heart-wrenching narrative while culminating in a message that inspires peace, unity, and hope. Despite winning an Oscar, this crucial piece of cinema has had a limited release, kept mostly away from theaters and streaming due to its politically sensitive content. This film paves the way forward for hard discussions and fosters empathy. By denying the screening of "No Other Land," we are robbing the public of these essential conversations and insights.

As no major U.S. distributor has picked up the film since it's original February 2024 release, this petition calls on AMC and other major theaters to directly screen this film. Let the American public explore the Palestinian and Israeli crisis up close. Please give "No Other Land" the broader release it deserves.
