The Issue

Myself, home owners, Burke Mountain Academy,  local business owners, employees, season pass holders alongside the community of East Burke, find ourselves embroiled in a critical issue; the future of Burke Mountain. This mountain is not just an extraordinary piece of the landscape; it represents our livelihood, supporting the jobs of many and aiding the construct of our community. Currently, Burke Mountain stands as the most significant employer in the area and houses over 230 families, underscoring its pivotal role in our community's economy.

We reach out to you with a plea to urge the Miami judge and receiver to revisit their decision for the process they chose for selling Burke Mountain. We believe that the ‘stalking horse’ bidding process currently being employed is unfairly limiting potential buyers and negatively impacting a potential fair market value. We instead propose a transition towards a more conventional market listing, allowing a fair and impartial ground for potential buyers.

This alteration would not only open the platform to a wider array of interested parties but could potentially help us find a buyer with a vision for the future.  Moreover, it would ensure that the process meets the interests of all stakeholders, particularly the local community, which relies profoundly on the success and prosperity of Burke Mountain.

We implore those in power to reconsider the selling process of this pivotal local landmark. The future of our community hangs in the balance and it's imperative we ensure a just process is in place that truly reflects our collective best interest. Please sign this petition and join our fight for fairness and the future sustainability of our precious community.
