The Issue

As a worried parent and PTA president of two children within our school district, I'm deeply concerned about recurring budget cuts that are severely shaping our students, staff, and school community. Our children's futures hang in the balance, and we cannot silently sit by as another year passes without the Base Student Allocation (BSA) experiencing an increase.

By endorsing the proposed bill to raise the BSA by $1000, we can provide the necessary funding to maintain a robust instructional staff, reduce classroom sizes, and ensure that important roles such as our nurse, librarian, and Gym teacher are not reduced to part-time status at schools like Ocean View Elementary. Critical programs crucial to our students' comprehensive growth are also at risk of getting cut.

If the bill is not passed, hundreds of teachers—including two from Ocean View Elementary—will lose their jobs. Bigger classroom sizes will inevitably result, compromising the quality of education our children deserve. We urge our legislatures to value our children's education as much as we do and vote for the increase in the BSA.

Please sign this petition to affirm our commitment to providing the best possible education for our children, and to press upon our legislatures the urgency of passing this bill. Your signature can make a lasting impact on the lives of our students and the future of our community.
