Urge Lawmakers to Reconsider the Complete Ban on Gas-Powered Vehicles
The Issue
As someone who received their first car book as a child, my dream has always resided in the roar of a V8 twin turbo engine, the sheer thrill that a well-crafted sports car provides. With the proposed ban on the production of gas-powered vehicles in 2035, this aspiration is threatened for me, and many like me who still revel in the charm of sports cars.
Due to the environmental concerns, a switch to electric vehicles seems like an obvious choice for many. However, a complete ban on gas-powered vehicles is less of a solution and more of a deterrent for those who find carriage in the purr of their sports car's motor. The option to explore alternative fuels, hybrid technologies, or innovations within the existing gas engine framework to counterbalance the environmental effect presents a more acceptable compromise.
It is estimated that by 2035, nearly 90% of the vehicles in production will be electric (source: International Energy Agency). The harsh reality of this estimation gravely impacts the sports car industry, which continues to be vibrant and evolving.
A complete ban on gas-powered vehicles creates a disruptive rift in an industry cherished by many enthusiasts worldwide. Moreover, imposing a sudden shift from gas to electric vehicles does not account for those unable to afford the transition promptly.
Let's urge our lawmakers to reconsider this outright ban. Rather, they should invest in incentivising research into green technologies for gas engines, alternative fuels and hybrid vehicles which can effectively reduce the carbon footprint without entirely eliminating the joy for sports cars enthusiasts like me. After all, the future should not compromise the past, and aesthetic should harmonize with progress.
Please join me in advocating for a future that includes the vibrancy of sports cars in a greener world. Sign the petition today.
