Urge Lambeth Council to Reopen Local Roads in Streatham for Cars and Motorcycles
The Issue
I am a resident of Streatham, London, and like many others, I am personally affected by the traffic gridlock that occurs between 7:30-9:00 am and 3:00-18:30 pm. The Low Traffic Neighbourhood plans implemented by Lambeth council have inadvertently led to increased pollution around bus stops, affecting families on school runs and commuters alike.
The cold weather has exacerbated the situation by increasing the number of vehicles on the road. This not only disrupts our daily routines but also contributes negatively to our environment. According to a study conducted by King's College London in 2018, air pollution levels can spike up during periods of heavy traffic congestion.
We urge Lambeth council to review these Low Traffic Neighbourhood plans affecting Streatham and place them on hold until spring 2024. During this pause, we request an open dialogue with residents about how best to balance environmental concerns with practical needs for transportation.
Our community deserves roads that are accessible for all types of vehicles without compromising our health or quality of life. Please sign this petition if you agree that it is time for change in Streatham's local transport policies.
