Urge King Charles to cancel 2026 state visit to America

The Issue

Having proudly served as an Army Nurse in the Camp Bastion Emergency Department during the Herrick 7 and 11 tours, I understand firsthand the dedication and sacrifices made by troops from all over the world, including our UN and British forces. We worked side by side with American nurses and doctors, sharing the risks and burdens of battle. It was an environment that demanded courage, resilience, and compassion from everyone involved.

Recently, I was deeply disturbed by President Trump's disrespectful remarks about the role of UN and British troops in Afghanistan, claiming they were not on the front lines. This statement not only undermines the heroic efforts and sacrifices of so many brave individuals but also dishonours the memories of those who laid down their lives for freedom and peace.

I urge King Charles to reconsider the scheduled state visit to America in 2026 as a stand of solidarity with our troops and their families. Cancelling this visit would send a strong message of respect and acknowledgment to those who served and suffered, both physically and mentally. It would honour the dedication and bravery of all nationalities involved in the conflict, ensuring that their sacrifices are not belittled by careless words or actions.

The significance of appreciating our veterans' contributions extends beyond politics; it is about the moral obligation to honour their service and validate their experiences. It is also crucial for the families left grieving by the heavy cost of war to feel that their loved ones' patriotism and ultimate sacrifices are recognized at the highest levels.

Please consider signing this petition to urge King Charles to demonstrate his support for our veterans by cancelling the 2026 state visit to America. Let's make sure that the honour and remembrance of our fallen heroes and injured veterans remain intact, sending a clear message that their sacrifices were not in vain.
