Urge Kerala government to scrap Wildlife Protection (Amendment)Bill,2025

Urge Kerala government to scrap Wildlife Protection (Amendment)Bill,2025
The Issue
Killing Is Not Conservation
Stop the Kerala Wildlife Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2025
To:
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala
The Hon’ble Governor of Kerala
The Hon’ble Minister for Forests & Wildlife, Government of Kerala
We, the people concerned over the loss of wildlife and human lives in Kerala, urge you to withhold assent and withdraw the Kerala Wildlife Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
This Bill is dangerous, unconstitutional, and ecologically disastrous. It:
Legalizes reckless killing of elephants and other wild animals instead of adopting humane, scientific conflict-management methods.
Strips powers from responsible officials like the Chief Wildlife Warden, placing life-and-death decisions in political hands.
Violates the Constitution and laws, including the Wildlife Protection Act, which safeguard forests and wildlife for future generations.
Ignores root causes of conflict such as deforestation, quarrying, and habitat destruction, blaming animals instead of addressing real issues.
Breaks India’s global commitments on biodiversity protection and sets a dangerous precedent for other states.
Kerala has a proud legacy of conservation. This Bill will damage that legacy, endanger communities, and push elephants and other wildlife closer to extinction.
We demand:
1. Withdraw this Bill.
2. Adopt scientific and community-based solutions to human–wildlife conflict, including habitat restoration and indigenous knowledge.
3. Protect both people and wildlife through coexistence, not hunting.
Wildlife belongs to all of us. Killing is not the solution. Let’s save Kerala’s forests, elephants, and our future.
Sign and share to stop this dangerous Bill
Please join us in this critical moment to demand that the Kerala Government withhold this amendment and demonstrate leadership that aligns with the values of conservation and coexistence. Sign this petition to protect the Western Ghats and its splendid wildlife for our future generations to admire and cherish. Your signature strengthens our collective voice for a just and thriving natural world. Also you can write directly to Chief Minister Kerala regarding this. Email is <chiefminister@kerala.gov.in>
