Overrule the jury's verdict!

The Issue

On April 1st, 2022, the jury decided to choose blatant lies over the loads of evidence, police testimony, victim testimony, witness testimony, and forensic analysts in the case of Jaikorian Johnson vs the Commonwealth.  The defendant, Johnson, faced a murder charge for the killing of 15 year old Corban Henry, attempted murder, (of another juvenile,) tampering with evidence and 4 counts of wanton endangerment.  (Sufficient evidence and testimony were presented to warrant a murder charge, attempted murder, tampering with evidence and 4 counts of wanton endangerment hence his prior indictment on all those charges previously brought about by a grand jury on even less evidence than was presented during trial.)   Yet the trial jury chose to label my son's murder and the attempted murder of his friend as a nonviolent crime, capping the sentence at 20 years.  The verdict gives no time for the attempted murder of a child.  10 years for shooting in the open air.  And 10 years for shooting a 15 year old in the back from a block away as he rode down the road on the back of a moped.   The jury's verdict fails to give justice to Corban Asher Henry, the other juvenile, the loved ones of the victims, the public safety of Owensboro and the police work and safety.  Such a slap on the wrist sentence sets an example for other criminals to know consequences are minimal here in Owensboro for crime, even for the murder of an innocent child.  At a time when juvenile shootings are at an all time high across the nation and especially high in Owensboro, Kentucky, this verdict will perpetuate the violence and is absolutely unacceptable!  By signing this petition you are joining us in urging the judge on this case, Lisa Payne Jones, to overthrow the verdict, give Jaikorian Johnson the sentence he deserves and keep the people of Owensboro safe! Sign for Corban, sign for Owensboro, sign for your child.  Corban deserves justice and Owensboro deserves peace in the streets!  Thank you all for your continued support!  We will not let this slide!
