My research journey has unveiled a heartbreaking truth about the unsustainable palm oil industry: it is deeply interwoven with environmental destruction and human rights abuses. From the majestic orangutans, whose habitats are being wiped out in the name of expansion, to the children who toil under grueling conditions in plantations, the cost of cheap palm oil is something we simply cannot ignore.
