I, along with many others, came to Canada over four years ago in search of a better life, only to find ourselves in an indefinite limbo due to prolonged processing times of our Permanent Residency applications. The long wait for the routine background checks has held us hostage, making it impossible for us to travel, relocate, or change jobs. I've personally missed several potential job opportunities which could have improved my living standards. Precious life moments are slipping away as we wait - I had plans to move forward, perhaps buy a new house, begin a fresh chapter. Yet we remain stuck, indefinitely.

What’s even more disturbing is that we aren't alone in our struggles. Based on Canada's Annual Report to Parliament on Immigration, around 342,000 people were admitted for Permanent Residency in 2019 alone (Source: Canada's Annual Report to Parliament on Immigration, 2019). Presumably, an equal or greater number are currently dealing with a similar wait as we are, seeing their dreams and plans held up due to these delays.

We are appealing to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to expedite the Permanent Residency process and reduce these unreasonably long wait times.
