Urge ICE to Install Protectors on Transformers to Save Monkeys

The Issue

I live in Santa Teresa Beach, Puntarenas Province, Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Every day, I see monkeys swinging from tree to tree. These creatures are an essential part of our ecosystem and a joy to observe. However, their lives are being cut short due to a man-made hazard - unprotected electrical transformers.

In the last four weeks alone, six monkeys have been electrocuted by the same transformer (transformer 137135  in Santiago Hills) - a heartbreaking sight that no one should have to witness. We neighbors, have collected and tried to save the monkeys, but all of them died, immediately or few hours after. This is not just about the loss of individual animals; it's about the potential disruption of our local ecosystem as these incidents could lead to a significant decrease in monkey populations over time.

The solution is simple and cost-effective: installing protective covers on transformers can prevent these tragic accidents from happening again. ICE has implemented this measure in the area with great success in reducing wildlife electrocutions.

We urge ICE to take immediate action and install protectors on their transformers. It's not just about saving monkeys; it's about preserving our environment for future generations.

Please sign this petition and join us in calling for change that will save lives and maintain balance within our precious ecosystem.
