Dragon enthusiasts and Minecraft players worldwide, our beloved Ice and Fire 2 mod creators are at a crossroads, and we stand on the brink of losing the wondrous authenticity that has set it apart.

The cherished Ice and Fire mod, renowned for bringing dragons — majestic, mythical creatures — to life in the Minecraft universe, is venturing into new territory with Ice and Fire 2. However, recent developments suggest that these new dragon models are becoming overly creative, departing from the enchanting nothingburger we fell in love with. The new designs are simply too flavorful and make me confused and disorientated and distracted.

We have seen similar missteps with other beloved mods, notably Thaumcraft 7, where over-creative design work overshadow the original crusty appeal. These intricate and overly creative designs risk alienating many of us who have been stuck on 1.7.4 and find joy in the traditional and realistic depictions of dragons, like the real animal. 

Simplicity in design holds power. The initial, simple yet captivating versions of the dragon models captured our imaginations, bringing joy and excitement to millions of players. These designs not only resonated with our perception of dragons but also contributed significantly to a seamless and immersive gameplay experience, crucial for maintaining a wide and inclusive player base.

Another concern among long-time fans is the shift away from the original mythological and naturalistic consistency that made Ice and Fire so compelling, which has now been fully replaced by a woke agenda. Elements such as the classical depiction of the Gorgon, which is now fully a man. And the raw, monstrous design of the Cyclops, which is now way too attractive and I think about it too much when I'm ready to go to bed, were not just aesthetic choices — they were cornerstones of the mod’s identity. Did I mention they removed Dragon genders? Yeah.

We urge the developers of the Ice and Fire 2 mod to reconsider and retain the original dragon models that align closely with the image of wyverns I mean dragons shared by the community. A faithful continuation of these designs will keep the mod grounded in its roots, ensuring it remains accessible and enjoyable for all players, from the most hardcore accurate heads like me to casual gamers alike.
