America's wild horses and burros need help. The Bureau of Land Management continues to conduct cruel helicopter roundups of these majestic animals - a horrifying form of "population management." To help address this issue and reduce the need for roundups, U.S. Representatives Steve Cohen, Dina Titus, Raul Grijalva, Deb Haaland, Joe Neguse, David Schweikert, Peter King, and David Price have introduced federal legislation (the "Cohen Amendment") to dedicate a portion of BLM's budget toward implementing PZP fertility control. PZP is a humane alternative for managing horse populations on the range that is also more effective.

While many animal organizations have supported the Cohen Amendment, The Humane Society of the United States (and their smaller lesser known organization, Humane Society Legislative Fund) & American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - who all publicly claim to support PZP - still have not yet endorsed the amendment. 

HSUS, HSLF, and ASPCA must be urged to stop playing politics and do what is RIGHT for horses. LIves are at stake.

The Cohen Amendment is critical to protect horses. On July 18, 2020, a terrified horse DIED after suffering a broken neck during a roundup conducted by the BLM in Utah. She crashed into the pen while being chased down by a helicopter. Instead of being immediately humanely euthanized, she was dragged away with chains. The BLM intends to conduct much more roundups such as this - 130,000, which is more than exist in the West today - according to a plan released by the BLM. The agency also plans to subject many to barbaric surgical sterilization.

Please tell HSUS, HSLF, and ASPCA to do the right thing NOW and help horses by supporting the Cohen Amendment (Amendment #6) to HR 7608.
