Ostrich and Camel Racing, although often presented as harmless fun, are forms of entertainment that can seriously harm the physical and psychological wellbeing of these animals. Forced to run at high speeds in often uncomfortable and unnatural conditions, these creatures can suffer severe physical injuries, leading to long-term health complications.

Camels and ostriches are not designed or domesticated for the purpose of racing and suffer as a result.

According to the Animal Welfare Institute, it isn't uncommon for animals such as ostriches engaged in racing to suffer fatal injuries. The stresses of overexertion, in combination with the unnatural racing conditions, make issues such as fractures, exhaustion, heart attacks, and other serious injuries all too regular (Animal Welfare Institute, 2015).

The situation is similar for camels. The American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) states that racing can lead to severe dehydration, stress fractures, even death in camels. This clearly underscores that these practices are far from harmless fun; they are in fact cruel and harmful to these noble creatures (ASPCA, 2016).

In the light of these compelling, and heartbreaking facts, Hollywood Gaming should end ostrich and camel racing at their facility.
