Urge Gympie Regional Councillors to Continue Water Fluoridation

Urge Gympie Regional Councillors to Continue Water Fluoridation
The issue
Following a petition being presented to Gympie Regional Council demanding the cessation of fluoridation at our region's water treatment plants, Gympie Regional Councillors recently decided to discontinue the fluoridation process, citing cost and government responsibilities as reasons.
Given the accepted low financial impact - averaging $5+/- per rates notice - this decision appears to devalue the solid and accepted public health advice at both State and National levels. The benefit of fluoridation is clear, and the arguments against it primarily focus on, at worst, corrupted or fabricated facts, and, at best, who should bear the cost of fluoridation, local or State governments.
In the latter case, debates over which level of government should pay for fluoridation should not affect a community's health outcomes by terminating the current delivery process without any clear path forward to replace it.
Let's not risk the dental health of our community, particularly our youngest & most vulnerable residents, who heavily depend on fluoride for cavity prevention.
Please sign this petition to implore our councillors to keep our fluoridation equipment operational. With your voice, we can maintain an effective approach to public health in our community.
