Sorry - we still have no news about when the archive will be discussed at Greenwich Council - the General Election has meant a further delay..........
Meanwhile - here's some news about a Greenwich Industrial History Society meeting on zoom next week
TUESDAY 11th June 7.15 for 7.30 Dr Chris Ellmers on the noted Deptford Shipbuilder Charles Lungley
We are very fortunate in having booked Chris Ellmers to speak again on Tuesday 11th June. Dr Ellmers is President of the Docklands History Group. He has made a lifetime study of the port of London and its commerce - the Museum of London Docklands was his brainchild.
Charles Lungley was a celebrated shipbuilder of the mid-nineteenth century. His vessels served all over the word, including the Crimean War. He built a revolutionary drydock at his Deptford shipyard and worked as a manager with I.K Brunel on the construction of the Great Eastern.
