Governor Tim Walz must pledge to stop hunting innocent animals for sport. The beautiful wildlife that our state is so famous for is under threat and their ability to experience joy, fear, love, and pain is being overlooked. Ecologists and animal behaviorists recognize that mammals, birds, and even many fish species have complex emotions similar to humans (Bekoff, M., Pierce, J., 2009). I believe it's time we reconsider our actions and the impacts they have on our fellow sentient beings.

According to a 2019 study by the Wildlife Society, excessive hunting can lead to changes in animal behavior and genetic diversity.
