Urge Faribault City/County to Assist in Controlling the Feral Cat Population

Urge Faribault City/County to Assist in Controlling the Feral Cat Population
The Issue
As a passionate cat lover residing in Faribault, MN, I have witnessed firsthand the struggles and suffering of our local feral cat population. Despite personal efforts to help these animals - having traped and relocated over 20 as well as taken in 7 of them myself, ensuring they are spayed or neutered and receive all necessary vaccinations - I am but one person against an ever-growing issue.
Our city is home to an increasing number of feral cats. Without intervention from our local government, many of these animals will continue to suffer and likely die. This is not just about animal welfare; it's also about public health. According to the Humane Society of the United States, uncontrolled populations can lead to increased instances of rabies and other diseases that pose risks not only for other animals but humans as well.
We need our city/county officials' support now more than ever. We urge them to implement effective measures such as Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs which have proven successful in managing feral cat populations elsewhere according to studies by Alley Cat Allies.
Our community cannot stand by while these creatures suffer due largely to human neglect or indifference. It's time for us all – individuals and government alike –to take responsibility for their welfare.
Please sign this petition urging Faribault City/County officials to step up their efforts in controlling our local feral cat population effectively and humanely.
