The Issue

This petition is personal and deeply affecting. Vladimir "Kalodya" Baranov, a Russian citizen, has been openly supporting the terroristic actions of the Russian government. He has not only endorsed these actions but also laughed at victims of the regime, including Yulia Navalnaya, now the widow of the Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny, killed by Putin's order. Vladimir Baranov's behavior on social media is a testament to his lack of empathy and respect for human rights.

The European Union has always stood as a beacon for democracy and human rights. It is crucial that we uphold these values by denying access to individuals who support oppressive regimes and mock their victims. We cannot allow people like Vladimir Kalodin to enjoy the freedoms offered by free countries while he supports actions that undermine these very principles.

According to Freedom House's 2020 report on Russia, it remains one of the world's most repressive environments for civil liberties (Freedom House). The same report highlights how supporters of this regime contribute towards maintaining this environment.

Attached are screenshots confirming Vladimir "Kalodya" Baranov visits to France and Italy in 2023. We call upon all countries in the European Union not only to deny future access to Vladimir "Kalodya" Baranov and his family but also to take a firm stand against any individual who supports such oppressive regimes or mocks their victims. Let us ensure that European nations remain safe havens for those seeking freedom and justice rather than those who promote oppression and injustice.
