Urge Escondido City Council to Keep Renaissance Faire in Kit Carson Park

Urge Escondido City Council to Keep Renaissance Faire in Kit Carson Park
The Issue
Save the Renaissance Faire: Keep It in Escondido’s Kit Carson Park!
For over 25 years, the Renaissance Faire has been a cherished tradition in Escondido, drawing thousands of visitors to celebrate history, community, and culture. Held biannually, this event attracts more than 10,000 people per day over four days, generating substantial tourism, supporting local businesses, and giving Escondido a place on the map for unique, family-friendly events. It easily brings in $500k in revenue each time it runs.
However, the fair has outgrown its current location at Felicita Park, a county-owned space that’s limiting the event’s potential due to its size and restrictions. To ensure its growth and sustainability, the faire’s organizers are seeking a larger venue—Escondido’s Kit Carson Park, which has the space, facilities, and accessibility to host an event of this scale.
Currently, the city council has denied the Renaissance Faire access to Kit Carson Park. If this continues, the faire may be forced to relocate to Vista, taking with it the revenue, tourism, and community pride it brings to Escondido. By moving the faire to a city park, Escondido could gain control of revenue to a financially struggling city that currently benefits only the county and allow our local businesses to thrive with the influx of visitors.
We urge the city council to approve the Renaissance Faire’s move to Kit Carson Park. Let’s keep this iconic event in Escondido, where it belongs, and allow it to grow and enrich our community for years to come.
