Urge Edmonton to Stop the Unnecessary Killing of Coyotes

Urge Edmonton to Stop the Unnecessary Killing of Coyotes
The Issue
This issue holds immense personal significance to me, as I strongly believe that the killing of coyotes does not solve any problems but rather exacerbates the imbalance in our ecosystem. It has been reported that 75 coyotes have been killed in Edmonton within a span of three years. 25 were killed last year. Roughly 25 are killed each year. While the city argues this practice is in the interest of maintaining public safety, there is significant scientific evidence suggesting that mass killing of coyotes does not lead to a drop in their population. Instead, it often results in an increase, as new packs move into emptied territories, sparking concerns about additional threats to biodiversity. Moreover, non-lethal management strategies, like public education, feeding bans, hazing, and habitat modification, can work effectively without fostering such violence. The City of Edmonton needs to cancel their contract with an exterminator and instead work with Coyote Watch Canada. www.coyotewatchcanada.com
My faith in compassion towards all creatures fuels this plea: urge the City of Edmonton to cease the unnecessary killing of these essential creatures. Stand with me today to express our solidarity against this heedless destruction of wildlife. Please sign this petition to make your voice heard.
