Urge DreamWorks Animation to Retain Original Shrek Animation for Shrek 5

The Issue

Along with countless viewers around the world who have loved and grown up with Shrek, I express concern over the plans to change the animation style for the upcoming movie, Shrek 5, it changes the whole franchise. Like many, I cherish the original animation which set Shrek apart, capturing our hearts, etching a nostalgic memory of our childhood, and defining Shrek for who we know him to be. The proposed shift not only tampers with a beloved classic, but it also risks the essence of Shrek itself.

By taking away the original animation,  DreamWorks Animation would potentially lose a significant portion of its existing audience. The franchise's indomitable success - with cumulative gross earnings reaching $3.51 billion globally across four released films (source: The Numbers) - has been largely due to its ability to retain consistency in character and narrative portrayal while still offering freshness in each sequel.

We ask DreamWorks Animation to carefully consider the significance and depth of this decision. It's not simply a matter of changing an animation style; it's a question of preserving the legacy for generations of viewers who identify with Shrek and find comfort in the familiar artistry of these films. We urge DreamWorks Animation to uphold the original animation for Shrek 5 and reaffirm their commitment capturing the essence of what Shrek truly represents.

Please, sign this petition to support our quest to keep Shrek the way we've always known and loved him.
