The Issue

As enthusiasts of compelling storytelling and imaginative creativity, we have experienced the magic and inspiration that Disney brings to countless individuals across the globe. It's this love for Disney's artistic endeavors that fuels our passion and pushes us to reach out today. We believe that Disney has the unique opportunity to revitalize scrapped projects, notably 'Culture Crash,' as Disney+ originals, offering both creators and audiences new avenues of engagement and joy.

'Culture Crash' is a project envisioned by Bobby Pontillas to serve as his debut series as a creator, inspired by his teenage experiences in the Philippines and the resulting culture shock. This concept is co-created by Mikki Crisostomo as well.

Disney has a rich history of embracing diverse narratives, and bringing projects like 'Culture Crash' back to life embodies the spirit of innovation and inclusivity that Disney champions. 'Culture Crash,' which aimed to showcase the rich tapestry of global cultures, holds immense potential to captivate and educate audiences, fostering a greater appreciation for cultural diversity. In a world that increasingly values representation and cultural understanding, utilities such as Disney+ stand uniquely positioned to deliver on this mission.

Though the financial aspects of producing new content are multifaceted, reviving projects like 'Culture Crash', 'Hailey's On It', 'Primos', and 'StuGo' as Disney+ originals could be potentially beneficial for Disney. According to Statista, Disney+ has over 160 million subscribers worldwide, a testament to the massive, eager audience that seeks fresh and authentic content. This demand signals a promising potential for viewership and engagement, which could translate into substantial returns while enhancing the platform's reputation for contributing positively to cultural awareness.

At the same time, streaming services appear to still be in the process of phasing out cable and satellite TV, aside from YouTube TV existing at this current moment. Disney has also pulled the plug on Disney TV networks in the Philippines and other countries.

Many fans who would be excited about 'Culture Crash' originally would be thrilled to see it emerge on Disney+. Its creation would not only rejuvenate the interests of its initial fanbase but also capture the imaginations of new viewers. The blend of Disney’s impeccable quality and the message of cultural celebration is a winning formula for a beloved series, tapping into current global conversations about representation and interconnectedness.

And a unique potential voice cast and some chemistries between characters and between VAs, like with pretty much all projects.

We respectfully urge Disney to consider the immense opportunity and responsibility to bring 'Culture Crash' and similar projects to life. Reviving these creative projects is not just an investment in content; it's an investment in the cultural and educational influence Disney holds in the world today.

Please sign this petition to show Disney executives that there is an enthusiastic community eager to support and contribute to these stories finding their rightful place on Disney+. Together, we can inspire action and witness the revival of magical narratives that unite and celebrate our diverse world.
