I'm reaching out to all fellow members of the CSEA Local 830 and those who support us, with a heartfelt story and plea. After dedicating years of our lives to serving Nassau County, our sacrifices have often gone unnoticed. It's not just about us who are nearing retirement; it's also about those who will continue to serve without the recognition they truly deserve. We've experienced years without significant raises and constantly live with the looming threat of losing our health insurance benefits. Finally, in September 2025, Nassau County offered a glimmer of hope in the form of a retirement incentive of $2000 for each year worked; a small token, yet meaningful acknowledgement of our efforts and dedication.

However, we've been informed that, unlike the Police Benevolent Association (PBA) and the Superior Officers Association (SOA), who are ready to accept this incentive, our union, the CSEA Local 830, is refusing the offer. This decision is not only disappointing but a huge letdown for many of us who saw it as a well-deserved bonus after the numerous sacrifices made over the years.

It's crucial to acknowledge why this incentive matters. With the rising cost of living, every dollar counts, especially when preparing for retirement. For many, this bonus could bridge the gap between financial stress and a more secure future. This incentive represents a rare opportunity to gain something back after years of giving so much of ourselves.
