Urge Coventry Diocese to Stop allowing the Warwickshire Hunt on Church Land

The Issue

All God's creatures, great and small, deserve protection and compassion. Unfortunately, on Thursday, 20th February 2025, the Warwickshire Hunt was seen hunting the hill near Draycote, on land owned by the Church, specifically managed by the Coventry Diocesan Board Of Finance Limited. Shockingly, a fox was filmed running from the hounds as they were actively hunting, with the hounds following the same path the hounds had taken whilst a rider can be seen pointing in the direction the fox had run whilst also riding in the same direction.

While the Church has faced criticism in the past regarding unethical investments, allowing fox hunting on their land is not only unethical but also illegal. Recently, the Warwickshire Hunt has had one of its members convicted for illegal hunting. The judge in his summing up said he had seen no evidence of any trail hunting in the evidence. There can be no doubt that the Warwickshire Hunt are actively and illegally hunting foxes.

With other major landowners such as the Nation Trust having already banned hunting on it's land it is shocking that it continues on Church land.

We urge the Coventry Diocese to stop allowing the Warwickshire Hunt to use their land.

We appeal to the Coventry Diocesan Board Of Finance to review their policies concerning land use and take decisive measures to prohibit any form of hunting on their properties. The protection of wildlife and the preservation of Church's ethical standards is crucial.
