The Issue

For years, I was a devoted shopper at Costco, trusting the quality and safety of its products for myself and my family. However, my health began to suffer inexplicably, with persistent digestive issues that prompted numerous doctor visits and tests. After much investigation, the culprit was identified: carrageenan, a common food additive, present in many of the Costco products I regularly consumed. My personal health struggles led to this discovery, but I have since learned that my experience is not unique.

Carrageenan is often used as a thickener or stabilizer in processed foods, including dairy products and deli meats. However, numerous studies, such as those conducted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and several independent researchers, suggest that carrageenan can cause inflammation and may even be linked to more severe gastrointestinal conditions such as colitis and irritable bowel syndrome.

Not only does carrageenan pose potential health risks, but it’s also unnecessary. Many brands have successfully eliminated this additive from their products, opting for safer, more natural alternatives. It’s time for a giant like Costco, renowned for its customer care and commitment to quality, to take action for the well-being of its loyal customers.

By signing this petition, we can urge Costco to step up and remove carrageenan from their products, protecting consumers from potential adverse health effects. Let us come together to hold Costco accountable for the ingredients used in their products and ensure that no family has to face health complications because of a preventable additive.

Your health and the health of your family should always come first. Please join me in urging Costco to rethink their ingredient choices and commit to safer, healthier products. Sign this petition today and be a part of the change towards a healthier future for all."
