This petition is deeply personal to me, motivated by a concern that extends beyond party politics. I'm choosing this platform to voice the collective consternation because I believe in the power of ordinary citizens to provoke extraordinary change. 

  On January 19th, on camera, Donald Trump said, “it’s only because they rigged the election that I’ll be your president.” And “And then he journeyed to Pennsylvania where he spent like a month and a half campaigning for me in Pennsylvania. And he’s a popular guy, and he was very effective. And he knows those computers better than anybody. All those computers, all those vote counting computers-and we ended up winning Pennsylvania like, in a landslide so it was pretty good. It was pretty good. So Thank you to Elon.”

    Such statements, unprovoked and plainly spoken, cannot be ignored and must be investigated. We the people have a right to take seriously such an admission from a man who held and holds the highest office in the country. Our collective trust in the democratic process, which is a cornerstone of our nation, is at stake here.

    There is no place for complacency when our democracy is on the line. If there is nothing to hide,  let him prove that. Let there be an investigation.

    Un-investigated, such statements will allow suspicion to fester, undermining trust in our democratic processes. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that our congressional representatives initiate an investigation into his January 19th  comments; to maintain the integrity of our democracy.
