Urge Community Utilities of Pennsylvania to Reject or Modify Proposed Increases
The Issue
I am a proud resident of Penn Estates, East Stroudsburg since October 2017. This place is more than just a home; it's a slice of heaven with its wonderful community and lifestyle. We are mostly working-class families and small business owners, striving to provide for our loved ones while contributing positively to our community.
However, we face an impending challenge that threatens our quality of life. Community Utilities of Pennsylvania has proposed an alarming increase in water and wastewater rates by 58.65% and 50.55% respectively. These increases would place undue financial burden on us, the hardworking residents who already operate on limited incomes.
It's important to note that utilities are not just commodities; they are essential services that should be accessible at reasonable costs. The proposed rate hikes would make it difficult for many families in Penn Estates to meet their basic needs.
We understand the need for utility companies to cover operational costs and invest in infrastructure improvements. However, these rate increases seem excessive and could have been avoided with better fiscal management or alternative funding strategies.
We urge Community Utilities of Pennsylvania to reconsider this decision, taking into account the economic realities faced by their customers. Instead of imposing such drastic increases every few years, we propose a more balanced approach where any necessary rate adjustments are gradual and manageable for consumers.
Let's band together as a community against this unfair proposal! We need utility companies willing to work with us rather than squeeze us dry financially every couple years. Please sign this petition urging Community Utilities of Pennsylvania not only reject these proposed rate hikes but also commit towards developing sustainable pricing models that consider the financial wellbeing of all its customers.
