Urge Comcast to reacquire Versant for NBCUniversal's growth

Urge Comcast to reacquire Versant for NBCUniversal's growth
The Issue
In early 2026, a significant shuffle in the media landscape transpired as a newly formed company, Versant, officially began its journey on the Nasdaq on January 5. This marked a pivotal shift, as several formerly iconic NBCUniversal assets such as CNBC, E!, MS NOW, Oxygen, Syfy, USA Network, and Golf Channel transitioned to become part of Versant. Adding to its portfolio, Versant completed its acquisition of Free TV Networks by January 14 of the same year.
These moves sparked a lot of discussions among industry experts and media aficionados who fondly remember the pioneering spirit and innovative content associated with NBCUniversal’s brands. The loss of these assets represents more than just a change in ownership; it signifies a disconnect from a trusted source of information and entertainment that many viewers and customers have come to rely upon.
Hence, I am petitioning for Comcast to actively pursue the reacquisition of Versant, integrating these valuable assets back into the NBCUniversal fold. This strategic move would not only restore these beloved channels to their original home but also strengthen NBCUniversal's competitive position in the rapidly changing media landscape.
To lead this renewed NBCUniversal, I propose that Mark Lazarus, formerly the esteemed chairman of NBCUniversal Media Group and NBC Sports Group and currently the new chief executive officer of Versant, be reinstated as the new CEO of NBCUniversal. Mark's experience and vision were instrumental in propelling NBCUniversal to its former glory, and his leadership will be crucial in navigating the company's future.
The media industry is at a crossroads, and decisions made now will shape the narratives and cultures of tomorrow. By supporting this petition, you are advocating for a future where quality content thrives and audiences retain access to their cherished networks.
Please join me in urging Comcast to make this strategic acquisition and bolster NBCUniversal's legacy. Sign this petition and help restore these beloved media properties to their rightful place.
