Growing up in Pakistan, I have seen firsthand the rampant mistreatment of animals every day in our streets. It breaks my heart to observe such cruelty towards innocent creatures. It's as if some people in our community have forgotten how to feel empathy for the voiceless lives around them.

We are currently at a point where immediate action is necessary. Animals, just like humans, deserve a life free of pain and suffering. Unfortunately, countless reported cases show a disturbing trend of impunity for animal abusers. From street pets being mistreated to wildlife exploitation, the culture of indifference must end. Today, I am appealing to the Honourable CM of Punjab, Ms. Maryam Nawaz Sharif, to intervene.

Recent directives by the Lahore High Court (LHC) to combat animal cruelty are being blatantly ignored. Culprits continue to flout the law, and the lack of effective enforcement means animals remain vulnerable and unprotected. It's time for the government to demonstrate commitment towards humane treatment of animals.

By establishing a taskforce dedicated to tackling animal cruelty, providing training for law enforcement, and launching awareness campaigns, we can ensure that animals are treated with respect and dignity. Moreover, stringent penalties must be imposed on those found guilty of cruel acts against animals. These measures, if implemented, can make a significant difference.

Empathy is a strength, not a weakness, and it is our duty to instil this in everyone around us. The people of Punjab should lead by example, showing that we care not just for humans, but for every living being.
