When I bought my home in the vibrant and historical community of Clarksburg, West Virginia, I never imagined I'd face restrictions akin to those imposed by a Homeowners Association (HOA). Yet, here we are, grappling with the Clarksburg Neighborhood Action Compliance Initiative, an ordinance passed by the City Council without adequate community input or consideration.

This ordinance has caught many by surprise, transforming the way we interact with and enjoy our neighborhoods. The provisions, which seem to echo those of HOAs, involve stringent regulations that dictate everything from property aesthetics to general upkeep, without taking into account the unique character and historical value of our beloved properties.
