Our beloved Hedgehogs, a cherished part of our local ecosystem, are on the red list, teetering on the brink of extinction. With such alarming statistics, the work of Chesterfield Hedgehog Rescue and Rehabilitation, run dedicatedly by Donna, gains significant importance. Despite the odds, Donna has been tirelessly providing aid for our dwindling hedgehog population, nurturing them back to health within her own home. Unwavering in her commitment, her spare bedroom has been transformed into a temporary haven for these vulnerable creatures.

However, this is not sufficient. As her operation expands, Donna has found the need for additional space and assistance compelling. She dreams of establishing a purpose-built, insulated shed in her backyard. A premise, distinct from her living space, in an environment that is comfortable for volunteers to lend their efforts as well.

Regrettably, for three consecutive years, her application for a community grant from Chesterfield Borough Council has been declined. This funding is critical for Donna's mission of securing a safer future for our hedgehogs. She should not have to fight this battle alone; it's about time the council acknowledges the urgency of her cause.
