The Issue

I am not even a huge fan of Bad Bunny but can respect that he is talented and his music (English or not) can be appreciated across this country, you just have to actually give it a chance. It’s music, you don’t need to understand every word to enjoy it. I am appalled by the petitions calling for his removal from the Superbowl Halftime show. These petitions, masked as concerns about his "wide appeal" or the language of his performance, are nothing more than thinly veiled racism. Bad Bunny has continuously broken barriers in the music industry, bringing the vibrant sounds and energy of Latin music to audiences worldwide.

Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has achieved unprecedented success. With multiple chart-topping albums, sold-out tours, and accolades such as the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop or Urban Album, he has clearly demonstrated his universal appeal. His music transcends language and national boundaries, resonating with millions. The claim that he does not appeal broadly is unsubstantiated.

Furthermore, Latin and Spanish-speaking communities deserve representation on such significant platforms as the Superbowl Halftime show. By excluding artists like Bad Bunny based on language, we are reinforcing systemic biases that have no place in today's world.

Change.org, as a platform for positive change, should not host petitions that incite division and prejudice. These petitions do not encourage constructive dialogue; instead, they perpetuate harmful stereotypes and exclusion.

I ask you to sign this petition urging Change.org to take a stand against racism and remove any petitions that aim to replace Bad Bunny for the Superbowl Halftime show. Let's celebrate diversity and embrace artists who bring different cultures and perspectives to the forefront.
